Los Alpes

Located in the Moncloa area, it is one of the oldest ice cream parlors in Madrid, since 1950. And they have been making horchata since 1976, when Guillermo, the husband of one of the daughters of the founders, went to Alboraia to learn how to make authentic Valencian horchata. In fact, it is one of the few places in the capital with the certification of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Tigernut of Valencia. Kiosko de horchata Miguel y José

Another of the horchata hotspots in Madrid. This traditional and humble kiosk, located in the Goya area, is currently run by brothers Miguel and José, great-grandchildren of the founders of the business, Francisco Guilabert and Francisca Segura, from Crevillente (Alicante). The family has been making homemade horchata for more than 80 years and the small kiosk has been there since 1944. They also sell other drinks such as barley water, lemon slush and their Gusalim, a lemon slush with mint syrup.

Oroxata

We go to the neighborhood of Tetuán to try another of the oldest horchaterias in the capital. Oroxata has been making horchata since 1946, although they used to be called La fábrica de siempre and La fábrica de horchata. They are in their fourth generation of ‘horchateros’ and is one of the most popular in the city. The 33 cl glass costs 2.20 €. In addition, they also sell other products made with tigernut milk such as natural tigernut milk custard, chocolate bar with tigernut milk or tigernut flour.

Mamá Elba

It is considered one of the best ice cream parlors in Madrid -and with vegan products- but, in addition, they also serve another of the favorite horchatas in the capital. Although this time it is not homemade, it is artisan. The horchata they serve is the one they produce at Casa Diego, made with water from Madrid and tigernuts with Designation of Origin from Alboraia. The small glass costs 2.5 €.

Napoli
