Google has decided to pay tribute to the espetos in its daily doodle. Thus, this traditional Malaga dish has become the protagonist of its home page with an animation of this typical fish. The espeto is prepared mainly with sardines and consists of skewering, or piercing, with a pointed instrument, fish (or other foods) to roast them. In the chiringuitos of Malaga and the rest of the Andalusian coast, the espetos de sardinas are a real must on the menu.

In the Google doodle you can see how an espetero is preparing the espetos in a boat. Undoubtedly, a very recognizable image on the Costa del Sol. If you have worked up an appetite and want to try this typical Malaga dish, here are some places you should visit.

Maricarmen Casa Playa

It received the award The Best Chiringuito 2022 from Tapas Magazine and for a reason. It is an old family house that its owners opened seven years ago with the idea of turning this corner of the Costa del Sol into an attainable paradise. As for its gastronomic proposal, it fuses traditional elaborations and adds a “touch of nonsense”, as they define it.
