José Andrés is a standard bearer of Spanish gastronomy and whenever he can he praises and promotes the culinary tradition of our country. A clear example is the Valencian paella, which in recent months has emphasized several times the ingredients that an authentic Valencian paella should have. Therefore, it is not surprising that he has taken his hands to his head when he discovered a “paella” cooked by an English chef in a television program recorded in London. The Asturian chef has even said that “it is probably the worst paella in the history of mankind”. José Andrés has also sent a message to the people of England advising them that if they visit Spain and see a dish like this, which they call “paella”, do not order it. But, what ingredients are in this culinary disaster?

First of all, the paella itself is a set of apparently Valencian gastronomic proposals. On the one hand, we find something that the program labels as black rice paella with baby squid. Also a paella of chicken, chorizo and smoked bell pepper. And finally, on the same plate, there is room for a seafood paella. The judges who are going to taste this preparation seem to be delighted with the recipe, judging by phrases like “So many colors! It’s hearty and elegant. Just what we asked for”.

Below, you can see what this “paella” consisted of. Do you also think it is the worst paella in history, as José Andrés describes it? Would you try it?
