The time has come to enjoy one of the most typical sweets of our gastronomy: torrijas. Many bakeries and supermarkets have opened the ban and have their fridges stocked with this dessert, since it is estimated that up to 10 million torrijas are sold throughout the year all over the country. A few weeks ago we highlighted the place that prepared the best torrijas in Madrid, and now we rescue this analysis that the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) conducted a few months ago to determine which were the best packaged supermarket torrijas, according to the assessment of its experts.

mejores torrijas de supermercado

Although there is nothing like a good homemade torrija, the OCU analyzed some offered by large supermarkets for, based on parameters such as nutritional information, labeling, the quality of fats or the presence of additives, sugars used or even the thickness of the torrija.

In this way, the experts determined that the best torrijas are those sold in Mercadona, for their good balance between flavors and aromas and adequate juiciness. Although it is very rich in sugars and fats, its composition includes several additives.

In second place are those of Casa Eceiza, thanks to its juiciness and its reminiscence of caramel; it does not have the classic appearance and is the most expensive. Closing the top 3 are the Carrefour torrijas, also very juicy, with less fat and sugar, and they are also the cheapest.
