Some eat them bite by bite; others, two by two. There are also those who crumble them first and then attack the buttery part. But, be that as it may, we finally have an answer to an age-old question: What is the right way to eat a cake? Scotsman Grant Harrold, former butler to now King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla at their Highgrove home, has shared with his Instagram followers the answer, aimed at those who wish to have manners befitting royalty at breakfast.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please remember that when you have cake in the morning, you only have one,” says while holding up a basket of bread the longtime British royal family employee, a man who even worked for the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. “But, also, offer your guests first. No matter how hungry you are or how many cakes are on the plate, you have to make sure everyone is served before the host,” he adds.

According to his own description, Harrold is an expert in royal etiquette and trains housekeepers in the UK. In addition, he is a royal commentator for various media outlets, including BBC News. And now he also has a large virtual community on the aforementioned social network, where he has more than 200,000 fans. There, on his profile, the content creator has long offered a glimpse into the world of etiquette, sharing tips on how to place napkins, how to shake hands and much more.
