Veganism is an increasingly integrated option in the gastronomic offer of restaurants. Vegan dishes can now be found on almost every menu and many new plant-based restaurants are opening. We have selected nine of the best vegan restaurants you can find in Madrid so that you can take a luxury veggie route. From tapas to burgers, pizzas, sushi or stew. There’s vegan food for every palate.

Mudrá

Behind the concept is media chef Matthew Kenney. Here they offer 100% plant-based cuisine: vegetables, fruits, nuts, cereals, legumes, mushrooms and roots. All this gives rise to an innovative proposal that processes food minimally to maintain its freshness and all its nutrients. Creativity and innovation are their strong points. Its recipes, as well as being prepared with renewed techniques, have an exquisite aesthetic, just like the whole establishment located at Calle Recoletos, 13. Its menu is a veritable explosion of flavour and colour. The cocktail bar is also well worth a visit.

This vegan and raw vegan restaurant is located very close to the Retiro. It offers haute cuisine that stands out for a proper treatment of the ingredients in order to convert the flavour and nutrients, and there is nothing of animal origin. It is a restaurant for any type of diner and you can enjoy healthy and tasty food in a cosy atmosphere. There are also exhibitions on the walls, as it is an open space to showcase new artists. Their specialities include mushroom kebabs, Mezze Platter, mushroom papillote and delicious cakes.

Avocado Love

You can tell from the name what the star ingredient will be: avocado, which is in all the recipes. Here you won’t find any animal ingredients and all the dishes are gluten-free. This restaurant innovates in each of its gastronomic proposals, moving away from classic vegetarian cuisine and opting for indescribable flavours, incomparable textures and fusions of international cuisine that make it one of the best vegan restaurants in Madrid. Its chef is Edu Troya, who has worked in kitchens such as Zalacaín, Lima London -with Virgilio Martínez- or Giorgio Locatelli. In 2022 he joined the Avocado Love kitchen to enrich it with all his knowledge and the contrasts of his cuisine.

Mad Mad Vegan

If you love burgers, this is definitely the place for you, and 100% plant-based. You’ll find six types of burgers, as well as different sides (from tequeños to calamari or wings). And, of course, delicious desserts such as tiramisu or brownie. All in a modern and relaxed atmosphere. They already have two locations: one in Lavapiés and the other in Chueca.

Pizzi Dixie

Pizzi Dixie Wine Bar is a vegan trattoria specialising in traditional Neapolitan pizzas. But they also offer delicious pastas, main courses, starters and desserts with quality ingredients. Their philosophy is to promote a better, fairer, more caring and sustainable world.

La Oveja Negra

As well as a food place in Lavapies, it is an anti-speciesist work cooperative, whose aim is to bring veganism closer to the people, in a comfortable and accessible way, trying to achieve a freer world little by little. Among the delicacies to try are the chorivegano with tomato sauce, the legume milanesa or the Heura meatballs. And for dessert, their famous cheesecake. They also have a lunchtime set menu for 12 €.

Distrito Vegano Invernadero

Get ready to taste a traditional, but 100% plant-based cuisine. All their dishes are full of flavour, after months of R&D work to achieve a Comfort Food with traditional touches for all palates. They love to innovate and that’s why they are always looking for dishes from all over the world to ‘veganise’. From their already classic cocido Madrileño in two bowls, to the Chilean dog ‘a lo pobre’, the Encheeseladas, the Korean Ramen or their Vacalao al Pil Pil. One of the most surprising vegan restaurants in Madrid.

Choose

It is the first 100% vegan Sicilian restaurant in Spain. They are at the forefront of plant-based Italian cuisine. Their dishes are proof that you don’t have to sacrifice the flavour of Italian food with a vegan proposal. They are the union of culinary art and nutrition through plant-based food. You can try their arancini al ragù, carciofi alla siciliana, their star dish, pasta carbonara, or tagliatelle with vegetable salmon.

Viva Chapata

This vegan tavern in Lavapiés has been offering conscious and sustainable food based on traditional recipes for almost 25 years. Classics like croquettes or the no calamari, even their vegan cocido madrileño, which they’ve been serving on the menu for 11 years. You’ll also find omelette in sauce or seitan stew – finger-licking good!

If, as well as some of the best vegans in Madrid, you fancy other veggie products, then you have to try the first 100% vegan foie gras made by a Spanish company.
