Japanese innovation is once again experimenting with agriculture and crops to present another exotic luxury fruit. A variation germinated by Japanese farmers in Hokkaido, who have just announced it as their new cult creation.

The ‘lemon melon‘ takes on a round appearance bathed in a solid greenish-yellow color, lacking the texture and darker hue of melons. Perhaps most surprising, though, is on the inside: a glowing sweet white that awaits the acidity of the lemon and a crisp sensation like that of a freshly picked pear, which softens as it ripens.

It is a fruit marked by the exclusivity of its cultivation: only about 3,800 units are grown per season, which are marketed until the end of August. And not only for that, but also for its value: there are reports that they are sold for more than 3,200 yen (20 euros approx.) each. A price that is still far from the great exhibitor of exotic and/or luxury fruits in Japan, such as the Yubari King melon, which was recently auctioned for 5 million yen.
