Jordi Cruz is known in Spain for being the chef who plays the ‘bad cop’ on MasterChef, where he participates as a judge alongside Pepe Rodríguez and Samantha Vallejo-Nágera. His journey as a tough judge in this contest began in 2013 and since then he has appeared in magazines and television sets.

Its culinary value is not in doubt. At 24 years old he became the youngest chef in Spain to receive a Michelin star when he worked in Barcelona, at Estany Clar de Cercs. Today he owns several restaurants and has managed to garner two more stars for his different restaurants.

Your new business project

Jordi Cruz’s new adventure is one of those that many celebrities have been taking in recent years: the creation of a tequila and mezcal brand. He joins a list that includes celebrities such as Michael Jordan, Dwayne Johnson, Rita Ora, Kendall Jenner, Maluma, and LeBron James. They also made the leap into the agave business.

Jordi Cruz’s brand is ‘Kankenami by JC‘, which is responsible for producing premium tequila and mezcal, rice liqueurs, and wines. Of course, the star product is indeed reposado and aged tequila, and artisanal mezcal.

Reposado tequila is made in Jalisco and is made with Blue Agave. This gives it a toasted flavor on the palate in the mouth. They also have a black espadín mezcal, which is made in Oaxaca with Agave Espadín and results in a sweeter, smokier flavor. Reposado mezcal, made with rested espadín agave, has soft and woody nuances. Finally, the young espadín mezcal results in a sweet and moist tone.

Another element that they have made an effort to take care of is the design. The team that accompanies Jordi Cruz ensures that each premium bottle shaped like a jaguar head is unique. Each of these containers is hand-painted by master craftsmen. The result is a bottle that exudes the Mexican essence from all its pores. The sale price of these bottles, 700 milliliters, and 38% alcoholic strength, is 115 euros.
