5.8 Undersea Restaurant (Maldives)

If you are looking for a 100% immersive evening, in this restaurant located in the Hurawalhí resort in the Maldives and considered the largest fully glazed restaurant in the world, you can enjoy a 7-course tasting menu at a depth of 5.8 metres for almost €300. With predominantly seafood dishes, such as tuna tartare with wakame or poached lobster in beurre blanc emulsion. They also have vegan options. And all this with spectacular views, making it one of the most sought-after undersea restaurants.
Where? At Hurawalhi Island Resort.

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant (Maldives)

This is the world’s first undersea restaurant. It is located on the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in the Maldives and is five metres below the surface of the ocean for dining among coral and fish. It offers different tasting menus with a fusion cuisine between local products and international flavours. The price is around €390 plus tax. They also have a cocktail and champagne menu for such a special occasion. Delicacies include sweet corn veloute with duck tortellini, beef tenderloin or lobster.
Where? At Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

Under (Norway)

It was the first undersea restaurant in Europe, opened in 2019. Located in Lindesnes (Norway), in the icy waters of the North Atlantic, this restaurant is a real jewel of architecture and design, the work of the Snøhetta studio. It has been perfectly integrated into its geographical and marine context. Its sloping concrete tube, through which diners descend to a depth of 5.5 metres, also serves as an artificial reef. As for the food, the Michelin-starred Under offers a seasonal menu of fresh produce designed by chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard. Their Immersion Menu costs almost €250 per person. There are also different food pairings available, also for another €250.

Ossiano (Dubai)

Another exclusive restaurant with huge windows where more than 65,000 marine animals stroll around while diners enjoy a warm evening with a seafood menu by chef Grégoire Berger. The restaurant is located inside the stunning Atlantis The Palm resort in Dubai. The cuisine is traditionally based but with a modern twist, using top-quality, sustainable products. Diving in here is an experience inspired by the seas and oceans that will give you an extraordinary experience. They have an 11-wave tasting menu, with 11 courses, which costs around €320 (plus €215 if you want a wine pairing).

Ristorante L’ Olivo en Al Mahara (Dubai)

A unique gastronomic experience. The prestigious Italian chef Andrea Migliaccio, of L’Olivo restaurant in Capri, the only two-starred restaurant on the island, has brought his essence to the Al Mahara restaurant at the Burj Al Arab resort in Dubai. His gastronomic proposal is an intense journey to the authentic flavours of the Mediterranean island and the memories of his childhood. All in a unique setting surrounded by rays and colourful fish in Al Mahara’s giant aquariums. They have a 5-course ‘Discovering Andrea’ tasting menu for 306 €, where you can try grilled octopus with aubergines, spring onions and green peppers; Tagliolini with lemon and red prawns, burrata cheese, oyster leaf and salicornia; pea risotto and smoked eel and Provola cheese and lime finger; among other delicacies.

Nemo (Turkey)

Located in Turkey, this restaurant has stunning views of an undersea aquarium. It serves Eurasian cuisine, by chef Anuj Sarkar, combining modern European seafood with pan-Asian flavours. A true immersion into the marine world through all the senses. On the menu you will find oysters, salmon and tuna tartare, ceviche, Japanese caesar salad, nigiris, sashimis, rolls as well as innovative cocktails and an impressive selection of fine wines and Japanese sakes.

Koral (Bali, Indonesia)

Located inside the Apurva Kempinski Bali hotel, it is the first aquarium restaurant on the island. It’s the first aquarium restaurant on the island, and is the perfect place to experience an unforgettable undersea evening where all the senses will be stimulated by the modern cuisine of chef Andrea Astone. You can choose from the Koral tasting menu, which includes delicacies such as fresh oysters, slow-cooked mutiara lobster, homemade chicken ravioli or Japanese sea bass, among others.

Sea (Maldives)

Another one of the undersea restaurants in the Maldives, specifically at the Anantara Kihavah luxury resort. Here you will experience a gourmet meal under the ocean. It has the first undersea wine cellar and its dining room is surrounded by sharks, turtles and tropical fish swimming around while diners experience haute cuisine. Gourmet meals under the ocean waves in an undersea restaurant. They have a 7-course tasting menu for €553, including food and wine pairing. Some of its highlights are dishes such as lobster salad, Scottish salmon, sea bass and its triumphant dessert, the chocolate explosion.
