This restaurant is giving away bottles of wine to diners who give up their phones

In its menu, the ‘digital detox’ is proposed as a starter.

The new Al Condominio restaurant has decided to ‘reward’ those diners who choose to experience their restaurant in a different way. And that is without altering the screens during lunch or dinner. To do so, they offer ‘a bottle of good wine’ to diners who temporarily detach themselves from their mobile phones and enjoy their gastronomy and company.

This ‘digital detox’ offer includes the delivery of a bottle of Maia Wine Pinot Noir to each participating couple, or one for every four people in the case of large groups, according to the restaurant’s notes. It is an alternative that has gone viral thanks to owner Angelo Lella, who decided to carry it out in order to ‘combat’ technological obsession.

The great novelty of this media restaurant located in Verona is called ‘La Cassetta della Posta‘. A choice made by the diner from the start, to disconnect from technology and actively engage – without distraction – in the social ritual of the table.

To receive your free bottle of wine, be prepared to literally keep your phone under lock and key. When you enter the restaurant, you’ll be given your own box to store your device in. Once you’ve locked up your phone, lock the box and leave it at the entrance of the restaurant. Just show the key to the waiter and voila, free wine!’
