You definitely don’t want to use your best wine for this experiment, but a good wine that can be chilled (so a white, rosé, or chillable red) will do just fine. Pour the wine into the ice cubes and freeze to be used later either to chill the same variety of wine, to make sangria, or to easily portion out seasoning for marinating or making a sauce.

If you choose to freeze some of your favorite juices, you can make use of your cubes in many ways. Have you ever wished your water had just a little bit more flavor, but didn’t want to buy any artificially flavored varieties? If you make your own lightly flavored ice, you can make your water drinking experience more exciting too! Try it with any small fruit or flavor that you like to add, maybe some blueberries?

This is a way to pre-prepare certain fun cocktails like mojitos or piña coladas. By freezing some of the key flavors (like lime juice, agave syrup, and mint leaves, in the case of the mojitos), the cubes will add a nice kick to your mojito served with seltzer water, rum, and some real lime and mint muddled!
