‘Si no hay Casera, nos vamos’: we remember Jose Luis Zamorano, author of the campaign and an illustrious figure of the advertising industry

The advertising world is in mourning. Jose Luis Zamorano, an illustrious figure in advertising and Honorary Member of the Academy of Advertising, has just passed away at the age of 89. Zamorano had a great contribution to the advertising world creating campaigns for prestigious brands such as Osborne, McDonald’s, Loewe, Gillette, Trinaranjus, Planeta or La Casera. In fact, for this last brand he created one of his most remembered slogans: “If there’s no casera, we’re leaving”.

With an extensive professional career that began in 1959, when he was only 13 years old in the agency ‘Hijos de Valeriano Pérez’, Jose Luis Zamorano founded the agency Tándem in 1971 and, in 1974, he co-founded Contrapunto, working with important clients such as Richardson Vicks, AEG or Fontecelta. He was also part of other leading advertising agencies such as Continental (+Werbegesellschaft), Envass, Grupo 13, Clarín, Balena, Danis or Ficheros Médicos.

Zamorano also published an autobiographical work entitled No te hagas ni medio lío, in which he recounted his professional career in the advertising sector, with numerous experiences and anecdotes throughout his decades-long career.
