The Italian-American restaurant Carbone, located in New York’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, has become one of the trendiest places where reservations are almost impossible. It is also one of the favorite restaurants of celebrities like Rihanna, Leonardo DiCaprio or Bad Bunny, so their dishes have gone viral. Among all of them, its emblematic Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, which costs 32 €, stands out.
After seeing the success of all their dishes, the founders of the restaurant, Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick, decided to create in 2021 the Carbone Fine Foods brand, which sold the desired sauces served in their premises. They started with a few favorites such as Marinara, Tomato Basil, Arrabbiata and Roasted Garlic, which are sold on their website or on Amazon for €22 for a two-pack of sauces.
But the most desired recipe was missing: the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka. Until now it had been kept secret and was one of the most shared dishes on social networks. The brand has decided to soon release the Spicy Vodka sauce so that people can recreate their pasta without having to make a reservation at the restaurant.
According to the launch statement issued by the brand, this sauce is made with some of the tastiest tomatoes in the world, grown in volcanic ash, hand-picked in Italy and cooked in small batches. In addition, Calabrian chili and slow-cooked onions are added, giving the sauce a depth of flavor as if you were tasting it in the restaurant itself. Carbone’s chefs have created this Spicy Vodka sauce so that at home you can add the finishing touch by adding a little cream.
The Italian favorite of celebrities
Carbone restaurant has become one of the Italian hotspots in New York. It is common that every week the paparazzi crowd the exit to photograph some of the celebrities who come to dine at the restaurant. From Rihanna –we already know her passion for Italian food-, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham or Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny, who had a romantic dinner just a few months ago.
In addition to its iconic Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, Carbone’s menu is also famous for its pizzas. In fact, they are also preparing to release two new jars of pizza sauces, an Original and a Spicy version, to prepare them at home.
