The potato omelette is one of the queens of Spanish gastronomy and is a real must on the menus of most bars and restaurants. Although there are excellent proposals and can make extensive rankings including the best, the Association of Chefs of Madrid (ACYRE Madrid) has held the III edition of the contest for the best omelette of the Community of Madrid, to choose the winner of this 2024. The jury, among which was the chef Pepa Muñoz, has not had it easy due to the high level of elaborations.
Finally, the prize for the best potato omelette in the Madrid Region this 2024 was won by the Balear restaurant, thanks to the preparation of its chef Jorge Baeza together with Marcelino Alonso (@gastrorgasmico), which resulted in an ‘orgasmic omelette’. Among the requirements that were valued for the award, there was a tasting jury that valued the quality of the elaboration, the quality of the presentation and the flavors; while the technical jury has analyzed the skill and cleanliness.
This is not the first time that the Balearic restaurant’s proposals have been awarded, since in 2022 they won the best Russian salad in Madrid, while in 2023 they won the best torrija in the innovation category.

Second and third place
Completing the podium in second place was the potato omelette from Etiqueta Negra (which has always been among the top three in past editions), a restaurant specializing in this dish and located in the Salamanca district, which also offers a delivery option. The bronze medal went to the omelette of La Falda, a casual place in Lavapiés that is characterized by offering a “rowdy cuisine”.
