In the world of confectionery there are two key aspects for a cake to succeed: its taste and its appearance and aesthetics. If it does not appeal to the eye, it is very likely that you will not be attracted to it at first glance. One of the pastry countries par excellence, France, has just celebrated the Grand Prix de Pâtisserie de Paris, in which, curiously, a cake in the shape of a trampoline won, the work of the pastry chef Raamin Samiyi, who owns the Momzi gourmet pastry shops.

The pastry work, called The Diving Opera, followed the theme requested by the competition. In this edition, it was about sporting values, as Paris will host the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer of 2024. In addition, each preparation also had to include a Parisian ingredient. In this case, Samiyi chose Plaq chocolate and Early Bird coffee, roasted in the capital.

With a blue base and a diving board as the main element, Raamin Samiyi was able to captivate the contest jury. In fact, the pastry chef is also a swimmer and diver. He decided to collaborate with the athlete Loïs Szymczak, who is a member of the French Olympic team and also graduated in Fine Arts. He is also Samiyi’s coach.

The result was a recreation of the trampoline, with a minimalist and realistic image, in addition to putting all the heart renewing a great classic of French pastry as is the Opera cake. The prize was 4,000 € and, in addition, the cake will be on sale at Momzis, at least until the next Olympic Games, which begin on July 26, 2024.
