This Madrid tavern, which opened its doors in 1920, takes us into a space with a “cañí” atmosphere inspired by the 50’s and traditional eating houses. A place that was revived by Julián Lara and Sergio Ochoa, the Madrid businessmen who continue to preserve its aesthetics and gastronomy in the middle of a space covered with tiles that take us to the south.

Casa Macareno stands out for updating the classic tavern through a menu of Iberian cured meats and cheeses, preserves and pickles, as well as croquettes, bravas, eggs or sirloin steak tartars prepared by chef Pepe Roch.

That traditional gastronomy that has captivated the new generations is what will be served at this special HIGHXTAR meeting. From a welcome appetizer with gildas, ham and truffle croquettes, ham and cured cheese to a folkloric tapas of ensaladilla rusa, bravas, braised tuna and creamy ojoblanco, taquitos of cod with padrones, broken eggs with shrimp and carved Iberian secret.

The birthday dinner will also feature a vegetarian menu consisting of a succulent bodegón of salmorejo, burrata, artichoke confit, romesco, a fake truffle rosotto and parmesan. To put the cherry on top of this anniversary, Macareno will serve a cheesecake, a mille-feuille and a chocolate cake to close the gastronomic experience and start enjoying the night in Madrid.
