José Andrés is a fountain of wisdom, especially when it comes to gastronomy. Through his social networks, podcasts, blog or restaurants, the Asturian chef publishes very useful tips to put into practice in the kitchen. One of José Andrés’ latest recommendations that has gone viral has to do with how to eat strawberries.

The media chef was on his podcast with writer and fellow chef Tamar Adler, when he revealed that he loves to eat peeled strawberries. Adler is somewhat surprised and José Andrés explains to her that peeled strawberries are made to be loved by you, and that, “if you’ve never eaten a peeled strawberry, you don’t understand”.

Another reason the chef gives is that peeled strawberries provide a better mouthfeel. The skin of the strawberry usually contains some bitterness. And, if we eat them without the skin, they are more pleasant to eat because it is practically all sweetness.

How to peel strawberries?

Although it may seem a convoluted process, peeling strawberries is not much of a mystery either. José Andrés himself shared a video on his TikTok in which Claudio Foschi, a member of his group, gave a simple explanation. All you have to do is wash the fruit well. Then, you have to remove the green leaves and remove the top. Finally, you cut carefully with a knife; you can also do it with a peeler.
