The Greek salad proposed by chef José Andrés for this autumn

The Asturian chef recommends the recipe for Horiatiki, a traditional Greek salad perfect to accompany any dish.

What José Andrés recommends is always good. The Asturian chef has talked in his blog Longer tables about the Greek Horiatiki Salad, a Greek salad that is perfect for this fall as a first course or as an accompaniment to any meal. In fact, José Andrés proposes it as a must for Thanksgiving dinner, with a glass of Albariño. We explain all the ingredients of the Greek salad Horiatiki, take note!

Horiatiki Greek Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • Lamb’s lettuce, arugula or spinach
  • A handful of olives
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 1 pomegranate
  • Red wine vinegar
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and oregano

Preparation:

  • The preparation of this salad is very simple. The important thing here is to have first quality ingredients.
  • First start with the vegetables. Wash and cut the tomatoes into wedges, the onion into thin rings and the cucumber into slices. Place everything in a large bowl, including the olives (black or green, whichever you prefer), the pomegranate and the greens of your choice.
  • Season to taste with olive oil, vinegar and salt and toss well to combine.
  • This Horiatiki salad is always served with feta cheese on top, a drizzle of olive oil and dried oregano.
