It’s like a pinch in the stomach or a tremor in the legs… Something that is not felt by the dozens of people who go up to restaurants and bars that are suspended in the air about 30 or 50 meters, in some cases, with food from a high kitchen. Some flavors to lick your fingers… if you can.
Fly Dining
This is a restaurant franchise that was born in India and has been exported to different cities around the world. In our peninsula, we can enjoy this type of dinner, but there is a trick because it is not in our country, but in Gibraltar. The menu is different depending on each of the twenty countries in which this experience takes place. It works like a crane that lifts the table and the diners 50 meters above the ground and with an integrated kitchen, around which an “O” shaped table rotates where the diners are distributed. The cost barely exceeds 120 dollars per person.
London in the Sky
They embodied this same concept in the London in the Sky restaurant, where they placed a table in the air that surrounds the kitchen where the best dishes are prepared for the 22 diners who are 30 meters above the ground. The menu ranges from tomato salad, lemon chicken, smoked salmon, or Wellington cake and chocolate cake for dessert.
Dinner in the Sky
With a similar idea, Dinner in the Sky was born, probably the most present franchise in the West and which has its establishments in some of the most luxurious cities. They are present in more than 60 countries. It brings together around thirty diners around the floating kitchen also at 50 meters above sea level. The special thing about this company is that they also organize meals on smaller tables for small groups; they organize concerts, weddings, and even film screenings. You can get a ticket for 155 euros.
Flying Cup Dubai
A city that could not be left without a restaurant of this magnitude is Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The Flying Cup Dubai is 40 meters above the ground and takes place on a table that surrounds the waiters. They offer different closed menus, to choose between pizza or hot dog, with popcorn and a soft drink; just the popcorn and the soft drink, or between the different dishes on the menu. This is the cheapest option, you can enjoy it for about 30 euros.
CuliAir Sky Dining
Something that is not new in the culinary field is a hot air balloon that serves haute cuisine food in the heights. It was inaugurated in 2003 and has been in operation for 20 years. A ticket for this balloon costs 475 euros. In it, there are 5 or 10 people enjoying the menu of the prestigious chef Angélique Schmeinck that goes from lobster with roasted red pepper, salicornia, avocado, hearts of lettuce, and lime mousse; the wild sea bass with wild asparagus, carrot cream with clams, fennel and tarragon with a saffron and cardamom sauce; or the guinea fowl prepared with Vadouvan spices, mushrooms from the summer harvest, white asparagus, watercress mayonnaise and pistachio. For dessert, you can enjoy the white chocolate and passion fruit mousse with crunchy rainbow meringue, raspberry and basil syrup.
Subway
The last option is still a project. The Subway has created an airship that will float 30 meters high and will have a 50-meter restaurant inside in which 40 people can travel a day on 45-minute flights. The ship offers the new sandwiches, the Deli Heroes. To be able to get on you have to register on their website, and choose one of the cities in the United States in which this airship will circulate.
