Nothing‘ is the title of the new satire of manners starring Luis Brandoni and Robert de Niro, which is already being served in large doses on the Disney+ culinary billboard. Specifically, on the STAR+ channel.

Argentine filmmakers Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, who have directed other audiovisual trends such as ‘The Illustrious Citizen’, now decide to explore the dichotomy between the world of haute cuisine and home-cooked food to produce this humorous series.

It is a dramatic comedy that extends over 5 episodes that follow the story of Manuel Tamayo Prats, played by Luis Brandoni, a narcissistic, elitist, and exquisite food critic who finds himself mired in a precarious economic situation despite his external projection.

His life will take an unexpected and decadent turn when his lifelong household assistant abandons him, and he decides to hire Antonia, a Paraguayan immigrant who does not know how to cook the sophisticated dishes that he demands.

However, this ‘controversial’ paradigm of sequences will end up awakening Manuel ‘s passion for traditional flavors, culture, and Buenos Aires cuisine, which he will transfer to his new assistant, instructing her about countless aspects of his life, from his relationships and personal tastes. even strictly culinary matters.

An audiovisual tribute to Buenos Aires cuisine

The series ‘Nothing‘, which had its world premiere at the last San Sebastián Festival within the framework of the ‘Culinary Zinema‘ section, becomes a gastronomic tribute to Buenos Aires and Argentina in which its directors wanted to project ‘a missing link of Buenos Aires’, with which he reconnects the culture of his country with the current world.

To achieve this tune with the modern era, they were inspired by classic figures from the Buenos Aires culinary world such as the chef Gato Dumas or the critic Miguel Brascó, who was once a great star. Cohn and Duprat thus intend with ‘Nothing’ to return the place that belongs to that figure ‘that no longer exists, that is in extinction’.

This series of underlying messages and sarcastic criticism thus interweave the plot of this story in which Robert De Niro takes on the role of Vincent Parisi, a prestigious writer who lives in New York, which opens the five episodes of the series until reaching a final meeting in which he becomes the true protagonist.

Both characters will be connected by elitism, ego and classism on screen, just as Brandoni and De Niro are in real life through their shared passion for cooking.

If at this point your audiovisual hunger for ‘Nothing‘ has not stopped growing, don’t worry, the gastronomic series of the moment is now available on the Disney+ platform.
