Michelle Obama has become one of the most socially conscious personalities, especially with healthy eating and children. The former first lady of the United States has just launched a brand she co-founded. It is Plezi Nutrition, a company focused on healthier foods and beverages for children. This new brand aims to replace high-sugar drinks and snacks aimed at children, while adding the nutrients they need.

It should be remembered that during Obama’s term in office, Michelle already championed the ‘Let’s Move!’ initiative, which promoted exercise and a healthier diet for children. According to a study conducted by ‘Access to Nutrition’, in 2022 around 70% of all foods and beverages consumed were less “healthy”. Hence, this new brand aims to cover the growing interest of many consumers to control what their children eat and drink, in an attempt to reduce the high rates of obesity in the United States.

At the moment, they have just launched a first product called Plezi. It is a drink whose main ingredient is water, in addition to being made with fruit juices and stevia leaf extract, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. It contains 75% less sugar than the average mainstream fruit juice. It is made with no added sugars, plus it contains fiber and nutrients such as potassium, magnesium and zinc. It is available in three flavors: Sour Apple, Blueberry Blast and Orange Smash and is intended to replace sugary drinks such as soft drinks and juices. In the future, the brand also plans to launch more beverages, as well as other types of snacks.

Plezi’s main target audience is school children between the ages of 6 and 12. Its main challenge for the company will be to achieve this with a product that tastes good and is actually something children want to consume, especially if they are used to sugar-laden offerings.
