One of the greatest football players of all time is not only an icon on the pitch, but also for Lay’s crisps. A memorable brand with which he is once again partnering to equip all his fans with exclusive merchandising.

In the new campaign, Messi subverts football’s most enduring chants: the mythical “Olé, Olé, Olé” that celebrates a player, an outstanding goal or the whole team is reimagined and replaced by a vibrant ‘Oh Lay’s’.

The footballer is shown in the clip eating a pre-match bag of crisps, and says ‘Oh Lay’s’ out loud, which encourages the whole team to chant the same words. That chant is amplified all the way to the stadium and even through the screen for everyone watching the game at home.

When it comes to the perfect blend of skill and flavour, few can match the iconic taste of Lay’s crisps or Messi’s mastery on the field, so we knew we had to bring the crisp icons together to recognise their greatness,” Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing for PepsiCo Foods North America, said in a statement about the pop collaboration.

In addition to the advert itself, they are featuring a giveaway Lay’s will start giving away limited edition bags of crisps in the shape of a football, and they also have a football shirt with the Lay’s logo signed by Leo Messi to give away to one extraordinarily lucky crisp lover.

To enter the competition, you’ll need to go to the @lays account on Instagram, TikTok, or X and comment using the hashtags #OHLAYS and #sweepstakes on the post announcing Messi’s goal, as well as the start of the competition.
