McDonald’s Japan is about to launch a collection of three fragrances that evoke the characteristic aroma of the restaurant’s french fries in Japan. The chain’s Japanese outlets sell other exotic potato flavours, which now inspire the creation of its new fragrances: plum nori seaweed salt, black pepper garlic mayonnaise condiment and classic savoury.

In a sort of tribute to those potatoes, the line includes the classic salty McFries scent, as well as two Shaka Shaka flavours: plum nori seaweed salt and black pepper garlic mayonnaise.

Surreal as it may seem, its official Japan account seems to have confirmed this new reality in an official X ad, accompanied by a campaign image showing one person spraying the perfume on their neck, and two others pictured with their respective crisp packaging.

The McFries fragrance, of course, takes the form of the red rectangular container with the iconic yellow “M”; while the jars of nori seaweed salt and garlic and black pepper mayonnaise are encased in little white Shaka Shaka sachets.

McDonald’s Japan has not yet released any additional information on the price or release date of this perfume collection, but we will keep an eye out for any updates.
