McDonald’s has just confirmed what all its fans have long been waiting for: a bigger, more filling burger, according to the brand’s chief financial officer Ian Borden. We will test this burger in a few markets later this year to make sure it has universal appeal before rolling it out worldwide,’ he told Fox Business.

Back in December, the fast food chain’s executives told an investor call that they planned to introduce the larger burgers in selected world markets, including the US, as a way to win back customers looking for a good deal amid global competition for consumers.

In this sense, the XXL burger will be experimented with in the first instance by means of tests to measure the reaction of customers, receiving that feedback with which to create the perfect burger at the right price. The franchise followed in the footsteps of the McCrispy chicken sandwich, testing different versions over and over again until it went viral.

This news comes just a year after McDonald’s revamped its iconic burgers, including the Big Mac, to create what it calls its ‘best burgers ever’; a series of changes that include the addition of softer, freshly toasted buns, juicier cheese, as well as more Big Mac sauce.
