Kharis Capital continues its track record of investing in restaurant groups by acquiring a stake in the acclaimed Spanish chef’s restaurants in a €44 million transaction.

The GDG universe, founded in 2014, is made up of 24 restaurants, including Lobito de Mar, Leña, BIBO, Dani Brasserie, Smoked Room, Tragabuches, Casa Dani, El Coleccionista and La Chambre Bleue. Traditional and avant-garde establishments -with an annual turnover of around 65 million euros- spread across six countries such as Doha, London, Madrid, Dubai, Paris and New York.

In this commercial agreement, it has been established that the management and control will remain in the hands of Dani García, and the brothers Javier and Laura Gutiérrez, majority shareholders. However, the exact percentages of participation have not yet been broken down.

Professionalisation and expansion plan

The new resources obtained will be used to further professionalise operations, improve the existing offer and significantly accelerate its future international presence, in order to become a world leader in gastronomic and culinary experiences aimed at the general public’, they explain in a statement.

On the other hand, GDG‘s growth plan receives the support of private equity, which will boost its commitment to a new expansion model. In addition to all this, there is a strategic opening plan consisting of looking for locations in London, New York, Paris and Las Vegas, where the double concept Leña and SmokedRoom, which Dani García opened in Madrid three years ago, will be installed.
