Sara Shakeel‘s crystal-filled dishes have for a few years now become the culinary obsession and creative nourishment of much of the internet community that has continued to appreciate and admire the development of her work through 2024.

In his digital portfolio, framed in the account @sarashakeel since 2016, dazzle countless viral works based on collages created in physical and digital format. The latter configured through tools such as Photoshop and artificial intelligence with which she applies crystals, glitter, rainbows and diamonds to the whole avant-garde buffet.

The artist, who first studied dentistry, would end up entering fully into the art world to cover everything with crystals. A practice that has a background behind it: to channel the maximum positivity and value food through its refractions.

His result is materialized and exhibited in real life through physical installations as well as digital sculptures in which he transforms basic foods such as eggs, tangerines, bananas or lemons into authentic culinary jewels. All this with the help of his Swarovski crystals and his self-taught Photoshop, Shakeel with which he glues crystals on food IRL, while sculpting burgers or fries with virtual diamonds.

The glorification of the essential food is then projected based on that undertone or message of valuing the food we are given, of being grateful for the food we eat, projecting an analogy with diamonds; which we do perceive as something truly valuable.
