The legendary official cocktail of the US Open, called the ‘Honey Deuce‘ is a landmark again this year. Made with Grey Goose vodka, lemonade, raspberry liqueur and garnished with sweet melon balls evoking tennis balls, this liquid expression stands as a fan favorite since it began play on its home court in 2006. Its name refers to the moment in the match when the players are tied at 40/40.

Now, its impact transcends the court, generating surprising data and economic results. Its price, which has risen to $23 this year, has contributed to an estimated $9.9 million in sales for 45,000 drinks served at last year’s tournament. A result that amounts to more than the total prize money taken by the men’s and women’s champions combined.

How exactly is the cocktail prepared?

Ingredients:

45 ml of vodka

90 ml lemonade

15 ml of raspberry liqueur

1 piece of honeydew melon (and making it in the shape of a tennis ball)

Preparation:

In a glass with lots of ice, add the vodka, lemonade and raspberry liqueur Stir to mix well.

Then, prepare the melon in the shape of a round ball. String the balls on a cocktail stick and insert it into the glass.
