Açaí boom: from Kim Kardashian’s favorite breakfast to global trend

Kim Kardashian just confirmed this trend when she transmitted through Instagram her obsession for this small purple berry from the palm trees of the Amazon, which she incorporates daily in her breakfasts.

A good açaí bowl with a hot tea always makes me very happy, no matter what time of day it is’, she commented in one of her stories. As you could see in the image, Kim combined this superfood with kiwi, mango, banana and strawberries, which she sprinkled with coconut shavings and granola. An infinite number of variations that can be made based on this food that has multiple health benefits.

The key member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan also revealed that she always ate fruit and acai for breakfast, as a habit or ritual that has not only permeated the universe of celebrities, but has transcended the whole world for all the nutritional benefits it hides.

Health benefits

Açaí, beyond the aesthetics it can generate, stimulates cell regeneration, energy and libido. However, it stands out most for its incomparable antioxidant action, with an ultra-concentrated ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score, which measures the antioxidant power of a food, and which, in this case, breaks all records: 15405 compared to 1401 for blackberries.

Antioxidants are essential to combat the harmful effects of free radicals, prevent premature aging of cells, cardiovascular disorders and cancer, in addition to other compounds it may contain, such as omega-3 fiber and healthy fats. In moderation, acai can become the key food in a balanced diet.

The antioxidant anthocyanin has also been shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, supporting brain health and memory improvement. Not to mention that berries can help keep bones healthy and strong due to their high levels of calcium.
