Coca-Cola revives the magic of Christmas with a campaign that has sparked controversy for being created with artificial intelligence. Like last year, the ads welcoming the season have been the subject of debate for “dehumanizing” or lacking the emotional power they previously contained.
The brand has launched two ads titled “Holidays Are Coming” that have been supervised by “human storytellers” to ensure that the content is authentic and emotional, according to Today.com.
In the first commercial of the campaign, Santa Claus appears opening a bottle of Coca-Cola, sending a Coca-Cola truck down a snowy road, which ends up lighting up everything in its path, from houses to trees. Seeing the spectacle, polar bears, penguins, hedgehogs, and a giant panda are completely fascinated.
The second ad shows a pair of otters living in a cabin opening a bottle of Coca-Cola, which causes the illuminated trucks to appear on the road. As they pass by, all kinds of animals, such as rabbits, marmots, a seal, and a bear-shaped snowman, crane their necks to see them.
The beverage giant’s Christmas campaign has sparked a wave of discontent among the public, who are demanding that Coca-Cola’s ads return to what they used to be. They want ads that connect emotionally with viewers, leaving AI aside and focusing on real, meaningful content that is also magical.
