Erchen Chang, the Taiwanese chef, creative director and co-founder of Bao, Bao Fitzrovia and Xu restaurants in London, continues to explore the intersection between art and gastronomy in a summer fanzine: a collection of summer stories in the UK and Asia; told through the memories of a cast of personalities from her entourage.
‘From stories of heatwaves in Hong Kong, to traditional techniques for keeping cool, this is your guide to surviving the long summer days (just in time for this long-awaited hot weather’.
Chang thus directs this new project titled ‘The Aircon is Broken‘, which explores memories of growing up in Asia during hot summers, contributed by friends and collaborators from different walks of life. From fashion designer Rejina Pyo to food writer Angela Hui make up the diverse stories and experiences, along with refreshing recipes such as chilled cucumber soup and sweet tofu pudding.
The fanzine also features evocative photographs complemented by Chinese calligraphy, adding artistic and cultural depth to ‘The Aircon is Broken‘, which is now available for download through BAO‘s social media channels.
