The worst DANA<\/strong> of the century has left some national regions devastated, with special incidence in the Valencian Community. Organizations, food banks and chefs from various restaurants have joined forces to mobilize for the cause and help the victims of the severe flooding of the Mediterranean coast caused by torrential rains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to alleviate this desolate panorama, and help all those affected, the NGO of activist chef Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s<\/strong> called ‘World Central Kitchen’ has carried out various social actions such as supplying drinking water with tankers to certain municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n

‘WCK Relief Team members are on the road to help meet the food and water needs of communities. More than a month’s worth of rain has fallen in a single day, flooding roads and homes, overflowing rivers and destroying crops along the Mediterranean coast. According to the Spanish meteorological agency, one station recorded the heaviest rainfall in a 24-hour period in Valencia since 1996. More than 100,000 homes are without electricity,’ reads the official WCK statement.<\/p>\n\n\n

The chef has also brought together his Valencian collaborators, Fierro chefs Germ\u00e1n Carrizo and Carito Louren\u00e7o, to lead a movement to distribute food to people in need. The duo has set up one of their bakeries, Central de Postres, as the nerve center of operations, making thousands of sandwiches together with a number of volunteers. In addition, other leading Valencian chefs and restaurants such as Bego\u00f1a Rodrigo, from La Salita, Jenkin’s, Villa Indiano, Bego Lluch, from Eurotoques, Hosteler\u00eda Valencia or Los G\u00f3mez Taberna have also joined in to cook for the Valencian people who have had to cope with this natural disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Pepa Mu\u00f1oz, head of World Central Kitchen in Spain, has coordinated a series of food trucks in Madrid and Barcelona to supply food to the affected population and emergency workers.<\/p>\n\n\n
