The Galician restaurant \u2018O Cabo<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 has a star dish that it has taken to the top of the 17th edition of the Spanish Omelette Championship, held in Alicante. Its potato omelette is the best potato omelette in this ranking in which the Betanzos omelette by Alejandro Oliveira<\/strong> from La Falda <\/strong>(Madrid) has taken second place. Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to chef Samu Curbeira<\/strong>, from Caf\u00e9 Ankha<\/strong> (El Ferrol).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The secret formula behind Spain’s best potato omelette is held by chef Ram\u00f3n Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, who now takes over from Pedro Jos\u00e9 Rom\u00e1n<\/strong> of the Ca\u00f1ad\u00edo restaurant in Cantabria, which won the title in 2023. The chef described his interpretation of the national classic based on the power of simplicity as a \u2018very simple omelette, which is nothing special, that everyone likes\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n

The jury, chaired by Rafael Garc\u00eda Santos<\/strong> and made up of leading figures from the culinary world such as the journalist Pepa Fern\u00e1ndez and the pastry chef Paco Torreblanca, wanted to highlight the high level of the omelettes that competed in the final of the competition, which featured representatives from seven autonomous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among all the high-end versions, the chef from \u2018O Cabo\u2019 won the recognition and a prize worth 3,000 euros, among other participants such as Alberto Garc\u00eda Ponte, from Mes\u00f3n O Pote (Betanzos); Ricardo Mart\u00edn, from Posada Pradorey (Gumiel del Mercado) or Pedro Jos\u00e9 Rom\u00e1n, from Ca\u00f1ad\u00edo (Santander).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
