Harrods<\/strong> has sparked controversy by putting peaches <\/strong>grown in the region of the Fukushima <\/strong>nuclear disaster on sale. An incident suffered in 2011 at the reactors owned by the Tokyo Electric Power Company<\/strong> from which the Japanese are still recovering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The capitalist system is now exploiting the hostile and radioactive terrain of Fukushima to serve ostentation with this fruit that is born from this still recovering site. The peaches are being sold at Harrods for \u00a380 a box of three<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first time that these peaches have been available in a European shop, following a strategy on the part of the plant’s operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Company, to restore confidence in the products grown there after the nuclear disaster. Since 2011, farms in the region have found it difficult to sell their produce for fear of contamination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
