A paradigm that is haunting the lands and crops of the world&#8217;s major coffee producers, putting the possible extinction of coffee on the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the midst of this dark reality, activists and\/or agents of change are trying to combat the possible collapse of civilisation induced by climate change. Furthermore, according to <strong>Science Advances<\/strong>, around 60% of all wild coffee species could become extinct, as well as the popular Arabica coffee species, which is also under threat, according to the <strong>IUCN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond coffee, other foods such as chocolate and cheese could also be affected by climate change, due to a number of factors such as increasing deforestation and rising temperatures. In addition, many species are in danger of extinction according to National Geographic, experiencing a loss of habitat or genetic variation that threatens thousands of species.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"820\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-1024x820.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-246862\" style=\"width:1172px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-1024x820.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-300x240.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-768x615.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-1536x1229.webp 1536w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-1000x800.webp 1000w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1-400x320.webp 400w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/camembert-1.webp 1868w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Focusing on the exquisite world of cheeses, the classic <strong>camembert <\/strong>is &#8216;on the brink of extinction&#8217;, according to an article by the French National Centre for Scientific Research; along with other versions such as<strong> brie<\/strong>, which has also been in the news for its uncertain fate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That alarm was raised in the 20th century, when a single strain of the fungus Penicillium camemberti began to be used for camembert and brie. Over time, the fungus would lose its genetic diversity and its ability to produce the sexual spores needed to create the soft, creamy cheese.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"1003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/vinos-mas-caros-mundo-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193844\" style=\"width:1052px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/vinos-mas-caros-mundo-2.jpg 736w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/vinos-mas-caros-mundo-2-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/vinos-mas-caros-mundo-2-400x545.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The possible extinction of <strong>wine<\/strong> has also been a topic of collective debate for many years. The reality is that there are some grape species that have been threatened by the climate emergency, altering the taste of wine and its outcome, as was the case with the French in particular, as reported in TIME magazine in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chocolate has also been the subject of talk of possible extinction by 2050. An omen deduced from the cocoa productions near the equator, which are seeing their conditions affected.
