The so-called &#8216;de-specification&#8217; of the chili is presented as a deliberate trend that has nothing to do with the weather season, but with genetic modification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Things are getting hot with jalape\u00f1o peppers, going viral on the internet through a massive complaint from hot pepper lovers. And is that, a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmagazine.com\/food-drink\/2023\/05\/why-jalapeno-peppers-less-spicy-blame-aggies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">D Magazine<\/a><\/strong> article on this issue has resurfaced lately in social networks, generating conspiracies, complaints and theories about the jalape\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/jalapenos-menos-picantes-1.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-240805\" style=\"width:1358px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/jalapenos-menos-picantes-1.webp 720w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/jalapenos-menos-picantes-1-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.tapasmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/jalapenos-menos-picantes-1-400x267.webp 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The article in question explains why<strong> jalape\u00f1os are not as spicy as they used to be<\/strong>. And the reason is that producers are changing the spicy ones for bigger and more aesthetically appealing ones. If they want more heat, they can modify it with oleoresin capsicum, an extract from bell pepper plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along these lines, jalapenos are now being grown to look nice, shiny and big, regardless of their flavor.
