Madeline Burton<\/strong> and her husband Patrick<\/strong> sealed their eternal love in January of this year. To develop their banquet, they asked a UK pastry chef to create a colossal wedding cake that would end up making history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pastry chef Sam Woodruff <\/strong>created a stunning wedding cake inspired by a 4-meter-high royal castle, complete with towers and turrets, gilding and lights.<\/p>\n\n\n

Woodruff<\/strong> tells PEOPLE<\/strong> that the cake, which cost the couple \u00a313,000, took three months to build before the wedding and another six hours to assemble at the reception venue, with the help of her husband. But not before amassing a series of references, sketches and images as inspiration to develop the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To sculpt the epic cake, she used six 20 cm round cakes layered with a petal design that formed the base of the structure. The rest of the castle was made with polystyrene, covered with white fondant adorned with golden foliage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the pastry chef finished adding realism to the architectural construction with 3D printed blue turrets and LED light balloons to illuminate the windows. The castle was also decorated with cherubs, miniature Renaissance paintings and silk flowers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
