After a year and a half of war, it is unfortunately still difficult to glimpse when the war will end, but what is certain is that there is a clear majority positioned against the country ruled by Putin. Many large international companies have decided to leave Russia, including many of the best known fast food chains, such as McDonald’s, Starbucks and KFC. In response to this massive flight of such establishments, the Russian government decided to create its own fast food chains.

As an alternative to McDonald’s, which ceased its activity in the country in May 2022 where they had 850 locations, they launched the chain ‘Vkusno & tochka’, which means “Tasty & Tasty, period”. It is a replica of the famous hamburgers. Thus, the classic Big Mac was renamed ‘Big Hits’. In fact, on the first day this new chain opened, more than 120,000 hamburgers were sold.

Identical logos and colors

Another very striking case is that of Starbucks. The well-known chain of coffee shops also reopened a year ago under the name of Stars Coffee. The logo of this new brand left no room for doubt, as it is almost identical to the American company. It is owned by entrepreneur Anton Pinskiy together with Timati, a popular Russian rapper who went viral for the song he released in 2015 entitled My Best Friend is Vladimir Putin. Starbucks had 130 locations in Russia, which were operated by its Alshaya Group.

KFC also has its own Russian version. Just two months ago it was renamed Rostic’s, using the same colors as the fried chicken chain, they also serve the same menu and kept all the previous employees who wanted to continue. Finally, another chain that was also transformed was Krispy Kreme. The famous doughnut brand was renamed ‘Krunchy Dream’, after the American company decided to suspend all shipments of supplies and ingredients and ended the agreement with its Russian franchisee.
