This Venice wine store recently lost an entire collection of bottles valued at thousands of dollars each to a daring robbery in which it is not yet known whether one or more thieves were involved.

This event, which looks like something out of a heist movie, happened at night, at which point the thieves climbed up to the roof of the store, and opened a hole in the roof, just above the store, to climb down a rope into the building.

After turning some of the Lincoln Fine Wines security cameras toward the wall, and covering their targets, they took about 600 bottles of rare and vintage wines valued at more than $600,000 from the store, including the store’s inventory of Burgundy and Bordeaux.

According to CNN statements, the thief was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a mask and a baseball cap with a red bill.

MISSING BOTTLES

After the theft, the store manager, Nick Martinelle, tried to put together a list of all the wines and spirits that were missing, concluding that about 75% of the inventory had been stolen.

Some of those bottles were a bottle of ‘Chateau Petrus’ (2016), whose retail price is around $4,500, a bottle of the exclusive Scotch whisky ‘The Last Drop’ (1971) priced at around $6,000, and all the bottles of ‘Giuseppe Quintarelli’ wine.

The list of the stolen wines is now being shared with local wine buyers / collectors and auction houses, in case they try to cash in on the stolen goods. Beyond that, Lincoln Fine Wines is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can identify and assist the Los Angeles Police Department in catching the thief or thieves involved in this historic theft.
