The Hotel Wine Fest arrives in Barcelona, the festival that fuses Spanish wine excellence with hotel luxury

If you are a lover of good wine and you like different and sophisticated plans, the first edition of the Hotel Wine Fest will be held in Barcelona from February 2 to 7. It is a great plan that will combine good Spanish wine with delicious tapas and all in the best hotels in the capital. This innovative project, created by Gourmeet, creators of the gastronomic festival Hotel Tapa Tour, in collaboration with Barcelona Wine Week (BWW), aims to reinforce the excellence of the wines of the Spanish Denominations of Origin in an exclusive context of five-star hotels to make it an iconic plan.

During these six days, attendees will be able to taste five different wines (DO Cava, DO Penedès, DO Jumilla, DO Yecla and DO Bullas). All harmonized with an exquisite variety of tapas, dishes and tasting menus. In addition, the scenarios of these routes of “tapas and dishes” will be in nine jewels of the Barcelona hotel industry.

To enjoy the options offered by Hotel Wine Fest you will not need to book in advance, and the wines and tapas will have an average price of €8 (with a glass of wine / champagne included). In addition, it will also be possible to book the exclusive “tasting menu”, at an average price of €50 (with wine pairing included), at any of the participating hotels through the festival’s website.

Three routes to taste the best wines

Grouped into three different routes, each one of them will harbor the unique essence and identity of a wine region. On the one hand, there will be the “DO Cava Route”, which can be enjoyed at the El Palace Barcelona, Almanac Barcelona and Cotton House hotels and will immerse you in the aromatic complexity of the Spanish sparkling wine par excellence.

The second option is the “DO Penedès Route”, formed by Majestic Hotel & Spa, Monument Hotel and Claris Hotel & Spa, where attendees will have the opportunity to taste an excellent selection of still wines with a Mediterranean spirit.

And finally, there is also the “Wine Route Region of Murcia”, which will take place in the hotels Kimpton Vividora, Neri Relais & Châteaux and Wittmore Hotel. There will be an opportunity to pay tribute to the great wines of its three Designations of Origin: Bullas, Jumilla and Yecla.

As a culmination, the participating hotels will compete for the coveted Best Pairing Award, awarded by a professional jury formed by Miguel Herrero (director general Alimentación, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food), Bruno Tannino (sommelier, co-author “Sapiens del Vino” of Bullipedia), Eva Hausmann (chef and disseminator of the Mediterranean Diet) and Ferrán Imedio (food journalist, El Periódico). While the public also the Best Hotel Experience Wine Fest and enter the draw for a tasting menu and a night’s accommodation for two at El Palace Barcelona.
