These days the Chinese New Year is still being celebrated and to continue with the celebration, Starbucks has decided to release a limited edition with an original coffee flavored with pork. This new drink launched only in China, whose official name in English is ‘Lucky Savory Latte’, which would come to be like ‘Lucky Savory Latte’, is made with Dongpo pork sauce, espresso, steamed milk, an extra dash of pork sauce and is topped with a slice of bacon.

The result is quite aesthetic, although its peculiar taste to serve with coffee has generated a great debate between those who love it and those who do not. The explanation of this action given by Starbucks Reserve of Shanghai on its Weibo profile (the Chinese Instagram), was: “eating meat means prosperity in the coming year”. The price of each ‘Lucky Savory Latte’ is 68 yuan, which would be about 8.7 €.

For the time being, the coffee will be available in 25 Reserve stores throughout China, which feature “local flavor profiles and highlight traditional customs”, according to Starbucks, as detailed by Starbucks to the media Today. It is a limited edition that will be on sale until February 26, or while stocks last. Along with this coffee, the chain has also launched other special drinks: Almond Macchiato, Red Date Rice Macchiato and Black Sesame Latte.

Would you definitely try this pork-flavored Starbucks coffee?
