The renowned wine critic, James Suckling, has just published his ranking of what he considers to be the 100 best wines in the world with the best value for money, that is, with a price below $40 (36.7 euros). This top 100, in which six Spanish wines have sneaked in, is led by the French riesling Clos Saint Landelid 2019 from the Muré winery, which has received a score of 98 points, making it the best rated wine.
The first Spanish wine to appear on the list, specifically in 48th place, is La Estrecha 2021 from Bodegas y Viñedos Ponce, a red made from the Bobal variety. It is followed, already in position number 70, by Viña Ardanza Reserva 2017 from La Rioja Alta SA.
Meanwhile, Viña Bosconia 2012 from the López de Heredia winery in La Rioja came in at 83rd, followed by La Danza del Viento 2020, a wine from Madrid by the 4 Monos winery in 84th place, while La Bienquerida 2021 from Losada Vinos came in at 99th. Finally, the Riojan Ganko 2020 from the Olivier Rivière winery came in at the bottom of the ranking.
In the list, New Zealand is the country with the highest number of wines out of the 14 on the list, with a total of 18, followed by Germany and Chile, with 15, while Argentina has 12 references and France appears with nine wines.
