February is just around the corner, and that, for the most enthusiastic lovers, can only mean one thing: Valentine’s Day is coming. An opportunity marked on the calendar to give a gift and let us treat ourselves with something that reminds the other person that we care about him or her and that we want to spend time with him or her. Because time is also given as a gift, in the form of a watch. These days, many watch brands launch their proposals for February 14, most with touches of red, cupid arrows and other paraphernalia typical of this celebration.

In the case of the Japanese Seiko, what it suggests is different: it wants to unite couples around a cocktail to toast to them. That is why it presents today two watches that are integrated into its Seiko Presage Cocktail Time collection, inaugurated in 2017 and characterized by the thin and faceted indexes of its models (emulating the stems of the glasses) and the dials inspired by drinks such as gimlet (gold-colored), manhattan (in brown tones) and martini (silver-plated).

Specifically, the two novelties, one designed for men and the other for women, become part of the Cocktail Time Star Bar sub-collection, named after an institution in Tokyo’s elegant Ginza district, the Star Bar, which has nurtured some of Japan’s best bartenders under the tutelage of Hisashi Kishi, winner of a world title from the International Bartenders Association and Japanese Emperor’s Medal of Honor.

The Star Bar Original Cocktail Purple Sunset (590 euros) is the new men’s Seiko Presage limited edition (to 9,000 units), and is named after the violet-colored Purple Sunset drink. Accordingly, the dial has been dyed in shades moving between navy blue and purple, with reddish details that simulate the sun at sunset. Made of steel and with a case of 40.5 mm in diameter and 11.8 mm thick, it is driven by the caliber 4R35, an automatic movement with manual winding capacity that provides a power reserve of about 41 hours.

The one for women is the Star Bar Original Cocktail Pinky Twilight (620 euros), in honor of the pink cocktail Pinky Twilight. This steel specimen is limited to 5,000 pieces and runs on the caliber 2R05, also automatic and with a power reserve of 40 hours. With a small case of 30.3 mm in diameter, it will be available for sale from February. Toast!
