Fans of Megan Thee Stallion probably won’t be too surprised by this news. The rapper has always been obsessed with the fried chicken chain, for which she even launched her own hottie sauce. Now, she has even wanted to open her own Popeyes, which is currently under construction.
On Tuesday 29 April, Megan announced the news on TikTok and Instagram with a video in which she appears in the middle of the construction site of her future restaurant. ‘Okay, today we’re going to visit my Popeyes before it opens […] They’re just bones, but in a few months they’ll be chickens’.
The clip even features a close-up of the ‘Hottie Sauce’ bottle. ‘MY VERY OWN @popeyes IS OPENING THIS SUMMER HOTTIES 🔥🔥🔥🔥 , I just visited my location while she’s still just bones ❤️🔥🐔 This is abt to be THEE LITTEST Popeyes,’ she later posted on Instagram.
Beyond the launch of her sauce and a Popeyes franchise of her own, Megan Thee Stallion also partnered with the brand a few years ago to make a six-figure donation to Houston Random Acts of Kindness.
‘I appreciate Popeyes’ commitment to empowering black women and look forward to opening Popeyes Restaurants,’ she said in a statement in 2021. “Teaming up with Popeyes is a milestone in my journey and evolution as an entrepreneur. I have always been a fan of the Popeyes brand, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the brand and help create the new Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce for their line.”
