In gastronomy, practically all combinations and mixtures are allowed. But even so, there are times when we are still surprised by some peculiar recipes. This is the case of an ice cream with ingredients such as rice and lentils, which has gone viral in a street food stall in India. Specifically, the ice cream is made with idli, a traditional dish of South Indian cuisine consisting of a kind of spongy bun based on rice, fermented (and shelled) black lentils. It is a typical breakfast food. It has now also demonstrated its versatility as an ice cream flavor.

Specifically, a user has gone viral by sharing how a street ice cream shop prepares an ice cream that, in addition to idli as the main ingredient, also carries several types of chutney and sambhar, another legume stew, also typical of the area.

As expected, the publication, which has already accumulated more than 120 thousand likes, has gone viral, receiving comments of all kinds, many of them criticizing this ‘bizarre’ combination of ice cream that includes lentils. But it is not the only place that offers this striking flavor. In addition to various restaurants, there are also brands that sell idli-based breakfast mixes that include coconut chutney or potato curry.
