In the world of Grammy eccentricities, Jay-Z would for a moment overshadow the event, starring in one of the key moments of the night. The artist captured all eyes and the spotlight by pouring D’USSE XO cognac into the Grammy award he had just won.
He would take a sip shortly after becoming the second recipient of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. An act he somewhat foreshadowed when he picked up the award with his daughter Blue, joking about his previous Grammy Awards serving as Blue’s drinking cups.
‘I used to say this was a cup for Blue. But Blue’s all grown up now, he doesn’t take sippy cups and he’s got his own Grammys,’ Jay-Z said.
However, this isn’t the first time Jay-Z has used a Grammy as a cup in which to pour D’USSE, a distillate he co-owns. More than a decade ago he would be captured drinking the liquor at the Grammy award he received in 2013.
