Amongst the myriad boutiques that make up the high-end collection of Galería Canalejas, you will now find this café that pays tribute to the creative effervescence of Madrid, as another of its establishment after the opening of the Jil Sander universe inside.

The designer café is set in a lush landscape of natural elements reminiscent of the city’s emblematic gardens and parks; structured around an architecture that evokes the kiosks of the city’s most traditional squares and streets, reminiscent of the Madrid of the past.

It is thus exhibited as a traditional and literary café that recalls the emblematic Madrid cafés of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as the Café Gijón, the Café Comercial or the now defunct Café Suizo, meeting points for artists and creatives in bygone times.

A modern twist on the traditional

From breakfast, to early dinner, to afternoon tea: in this café we can find an extensive culinary proposal with a touch of Spanish flair, including dishes such as the Macaron of partridge carbonara with PX or the Duo of anchovy and eel.

Added to all this are the signature sweets by renowned pastry chef Alejandro Montes, such as the Bombón Canalejas, a 70% Guanaja chocolate shell with crunchy Spanish almond praline, or the Petit Four La Violeta, made of creamy white chocolate with freeze-dried yoghurt crunch and crystallised violet petals. Of course, an iteration of the classic churros and porras was a must for an authentic Madrilenian breakfast.

As for the liquid menu, the café presents signature cocktails inspired by fashion and haute couture through spirited concoctions such as the iconic Blazer cocktail, with pink gin, white vermouth, violet and floral bitter, or the Castizo cocktail, with a base of brandy, horchata and roasted chestnut.

Finally, the Galería Canalejas Café also offers a wide range of coffees provided by Supracafé, an organic and fair trade coffee grown by the Cauca Association of Women Coffee Growers in Colombia.
