If after the robot waiters, who bring and pick up food, you thought you had seen everything in the world of hospitality, an American company has created robot baristas, machines capable of preparing coffees like real baristas and even run their own establishments. The company Botbar Coffee has developed an intelligent robot called to revolutionize the coffee industry. Adam is the first robot capable of preparing 50 coffees per hour like a professional. He has just “opened” his first coffee shop in Brooklyn (and soon a new one in California) and even has the ability to interact with customers and dance between orders.

Botbar Coffee was born out of its creator’s love for robots and, according to their website, is on a mission to break the chains of repetitive manual labor and bring unprecedented efficiency to traditional businesses through cutting-edge technology.

Will not end human labor, according to its founders

Just a few weeks ago they opened their first establishment in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, with the slogan “Humans can be unpredictable, let a robot make your coffee”. However, it still has to improve in certain aspects and is not suitable for lactose intolerant people or vegans, as Adam cannot customize orders and only serves coffee with cow’s milk.

Although this technological advance has also brought negative messages about the possibility of replacing human labor with machines, Denise Chung, owner of Botbar in Manhattan, commented that they continue to hire people and that the robots “only help the employees”. While the robots are in charge of brewing the coffee, the real people help customers and refill the coffee machine when it runs out, among other tasks.
