It is no secret that Spanish cuisine is one of the best in the world. And there are plenty of reasons for this: variety, flavours, traditional recipes… That is why it is common to see our cuisine at the top of the rankings. This has also been the case in a ranking carried out by TasteAtlas users based on criteria such as the ingredients, dishes and drinks of each cuisine. Spanish food came in third place with a score of 4.59. Among the top-rated Spanish dishes are 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham, cured Manchego cheese, espetos, grilled prawns and, of course, Valencian paella. But which two cuisines came out on top?

Italy leads the way

If there is one thing this ranking makes clear, it is that people love Mediterranean food. In first place is another favourite cuisine: Italian food, with a score of 4.72. On this occasion, dishes such as parmiggiano reggiano, prosciutto toscano, Nduja (southern salami) or risotto ai funghi porcini were the best rated recipes.

The silver medal went to another Mediterranean cuisine. Greek cuisine scored 4.69 points. Among the reasons that have led it to have such a good score, the portal highlights traditional foods such as Kalamata -an olive that gives a typical oil from there-, Fystiki Aeginas -pistachios-, Rodakina Naoussas -melocoton-, Saganaki -fried feta cheese- or Dakos -rolls with tomato and cheese-, among other delicacies.

Tied with Spain is also Japanese cuisine, another classic, thanks to recipes such as Ikura, Kobe Beef, Ramen Noodles, Karaage, Bento… Closing the top 5 is Indian food, another of the richest and most varied cuisines in the world. Dishes such as Garam Masala, Ghee, Malai, Butter Garlic Naan, Keema, guarantee it.
