The new sci-fi comedy directed by the iconic filmmaker, and his own beer, will soon hit the best movie theaters. A diluted collaboration in the form of a can that will be available during screenings of the film at various Alamo Drafthouse theaters, as well as at a number of select outlets.

That aesthetic world filtered in pastel colors that Anderson represents through his audiovisual works, is now transferred to this new beer inspired by the iconography and hedonistic imaginary of the director. A new project created by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in which the director himself participates in the design of the label of the drink, which pays homage to the desert landscapes of the film, and to the billboard of Asteroid City as the biggest tourist attraction of the fictional city.

What does “Asteroid City” taste like?

According to Dogfish Head, Asteroid City Lager is brewed with a combination of regeneratively grown pilsner malt, Tuxpene corn malt and Michigan-grown Zuper Saazer hops. A creation that has just had its flavor intensified by a Pennsylvania lager yeast as a “nod to the 1950s era in which Asteroid City was developed.”

This reinterpretation of the lager beer lands like an asteroid in a crisp and witty version that celebrates Wes Anderson’s empirical American cinema through layered and earthy touches added to a classic lager.

Dogfish x Wes Anderson will be available during screenings of “Asteroid City” at select @drafthouse locations, both on draft and in four-packs of 16-ounce cans, as well as on the shelves of Dogfish Head on the Delaware shore.
