Asador Gonzaba, the most emblematic grill in Galicia, continues its expansion throughout the national territory with its landing in Madrid, where it has just opened its first restaurant in the capital. The famous steakhouse, which was founded in Santiago in 1976 and has three branches in Galicia, arrives in the Salamanca district with all its essence: select meats, fish and seafood from Galicia and its chuletón, the true emblem of the house.

The new space, located at 103 Hermosilla Street, will serve to “worship fire, embers and the best product”. As expected, the embers monopolize all the main dishes on the menu, which is completed with other great successes of the restaurant, such as its famous lobster salad and seafood of the day. Here diners can taste fish, all wild, such as grilled sea bass, turbot or red (viceroy) permit or lobster, also grilled, with seafood bordelaise and wheat risotto. In addition, the meat also has its protagonism with a good selection of proposals, which are matured in Galicia.

From a small restaurant in Santiago to the Madrid Downtown

Asador Gonzaba was opened in 1976 in a small place in the galleries of Calle Real in Santiago de Compostela by a Basque and a Galician. The space quickly triumphed in the city for its use of the grill and good food. The hotelier and chef José Fernández acquired it 29 years ago, expanded it and began to open branches in Galicia.

Thus, 12 years ago, he opened a branch in A Coruña, and also there, in the middle of Riazor beach, he inaugurated Tira do Playa in 2014. In November 2019 would see the light a new Asador Gonzaba in Santiago, much larger, which has now replaced the foundational Gonzaba and in 2021 opened a new branch in Carballo, in a rustic house inserted in a farm of 100 hectares, to make the leap to Madrid in 2023, with this new opening, which is its first gastronomic concept outside Galicia.
